PEACE IN THE STORM: MEDITATIONS ON CHRONIC PAIN AND ILLNESS

AVAILABLE NOW FROM BOOKSELLERS EVERYWHERE

This is my first book of meditations and prayers. When I was first diagnosed with lupus, I began to write prayers relating to the new challenges, pains, and obstacles that became part of my life. Those prayers were the seeds of PEACE IN THE STORM.

The book is divided into almost 120 Scripture verses, meditations and prayers related to specific aspects of living with chronic pain and illness. You'll find topics such as "Having a Bad Day," "Where Is God?", "Finding a Way to Dance," and "When the You You Knew Seems to Disappear." Each section is short enough to read in one sitting; many people have told me that they read one a day, often rereading the same meditation to focus on its message.

Each Scripture passage, meditation and prayer in PEACE IN THE STORM is drawn from real experience -- my own and the collective body of fellow sufferers. But don't worry -- there's lots of humor in them, and practical, prayerful ways to make positive changes in our lives. Yes, rather than being depressing or an end unto itself, I hope that the work as a whole will bring hope, faith, and light to those who read it -- and lots of encouragement to find true, lasting peace in the storm of illness and pain.
